I just finished tagging all of my posts with “Visual Studio LightSwitch vanilla”, and created a new tag…
Yesterday I received a mail from Michael Washington, our LightSwitchHelpWebsite community hero, pointing out that an article on zdnet about Visual Studio 11 beta (released February 29th) quoted:
In the Q&A session, Microsoft officials noted that the Visual Studio LightSwitch rapid app development tool is now included in VS Professional and higher. However, in the coming beta LightSwitch won’t (yet) support HTML5 output, they said.
Although I can’t find any official Microsoft sources that confirm the amazing news that a LightSwitch vNext (beta) is being released, let alone what features or improvements the next version would include, Michael did point me out to the fact that Microsoft created a “LightSwitchDev11Beta” topic in the Visual Studio vNext MDSN forums…
Now, I’m not usually one to pay much attention to rumors, but when it comes to LightSwitch vNext, this young chap will be counting the sleepless nights until next Wednesday… How about yourself?
Update thanks to Bala (and Jewel)…

This is Steve’s reply!!!

It is is CONFIRMED… (well.. kinda) 🙂 🙂
Thanks Bala! 🙂
Looks official enough to me 😀
With HTML5 output they will get so much more new developers to use LS!
Hope in the next official version it will be included.
More flexibilty for skinning and templating and multilanguage support are big issues.
But we will see in the near future!
Hey Dennis!
I’m afraid it won’t be in the next version, and I have a suspicion it’ll be a long wait before HTML5 output is officially supported… Guess we’ll have to see what the community can do ourselves with LightSwitch vNext 🙂
Microsoft employee Steve Hoag has confirmed Lightswitch is included in the beta.
